No hard-working New Yorker should live in poverty. Yet our minimum wage doesn't even provide a basic standard of living for those who work the hardest.
We need to make sure that everybody who works full time is able to support themselves and their families.
Raising the minimum wage to $8.50 and indexing it to inflation -- so low-wage workers don't continue to get left behind -- is the least we can do. Anything less is simply not adequate.
