But Verizon and the other telecom giants have hatched a plan that could have a big impact on your life -- and your cable bill. Instead of competing against each other for TV, phone and high-speed internet customers, Verizon and cable giants like Comcast and Time-Warner are trying to convince the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice to change the rules and allow them to team up, to sell each other's services.
If their plan is approved, millions of New Yorkers would only be able get high-speed internet access and TV from one big monopoly. That means prices go up -- and we're not talking Monopoly money.
